If a seaman is injured on the job he or she is not afforded the same protections provided for land based workers. The Jones Act is the body of law that allows an injured seaman to seek recovery or compensation for his injury or illness. Under the Jones Act, if a seaman's employer or co-worker's negligence causes or contributes to his injury or illness, the seaman may sue his employer for compensation for his injuries.

Studies have shown a direct link between the use of Zoloft and other Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) during pregnancy and certain heart defects and birth defects. The most common heart defects are atrial septal defects (ASD), ventricular septal defects (VSD), transposition of the great arteries and hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). Some other defects associated with Zoloft or SSRI use during pregnancy include omphalocele, persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN), spina bifida, neural tube defects and others.
